Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade strengthens cooperation with JETRO

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On May 19, a ceremony of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT) and the Japanese Organization for the Development of Foreign Trade (JETRO) was held. 

The document was signed by the First Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov and the head of the JETRO representative office in the Republic of Uzbekistan D. Takahashi.

The document envisages the holding of business seminars for the Japanese business community on a monthly basis in all regions of the country in order to broadly highlight the investment potential and created opportunities for doing business in Uzbekistan, taking into account the specifics of each region.

The first seminar will be held on 20 May 2021 in Tashkent region - more than 100 representatives of Japanese companies that are part of JETRO have confirmed their participation in it. The next seminar is planned to be held in Samarkand region.

The representative office of JETRO has been operating in Uzbekistan since 2000. The main tasks are to attract direct investments of Japanese companies in the country's economy, expand cooperation and exchange advanced technologies between industrial enterprises of the two countries.

JETRO, acting as the Secretariat of the Japanese Business Association in Uzbekistan, regularly promotes cooperation and information support to Japanese and Uzbek entrepreneurs, and also holds regular seminars and meetings with the participation of Japanese companies in Uzbekistan. Since 2019, MIFT has been actively cooperating with JETRO to hold joint events aimed at improving the investment image of Uzbekistan and attracting Japanese investments.
