Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to monitoring data, in 2020, the number and duration of power outages has halved compared to 2019. This was reported by the Press Service of the Ministry of Energy.
One of the main factors influencing the stability of electricity supply is the modernization of existing power plants and power grids. In this direction, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan is constantly working, which made it possible to halve the number of power outages this year.
The current capacity of the existing power plants in Uzbekistan allows to fully meet the electricity demand of the population and the country’s economy, including in the autumn-winter period. As for the incidents of power outages that occur, in particular during peak loads, in especially cold and hot seasons, this, as a rule, is due to obsolete power plants. The country is supplied with electricity by a huge amount of specialized equipment, modernization and, if necessary, replacement of which is carried out in stages, with the allocation of the necessary financial and other necessary resources.
Currently, up to 50% of the power plants in use operate for 30-40 years. Taking into account their physical and moral deterioration, in some power units of power plants interruptions may occur, which leads to the shutdown of these units. It usually takes 3-5 hours to repair them. These phenomena are the causes of short-term power outages.
At the same time, such shutdowns can be made by the automation of the system in order to prevent a more serious system accident. At the same time, the integration of the electric power systems of Uzbekistan and neighboring countries in the Central Asia region is a guarantee that the supply of electricity will resume within the next few hours. Currently, thanks to the consistent regional policy of the President of Uzbekistan, this degree of integration of electric power systems is maximum and serves the stability of energy supply to the population and economy of our country and neighboring countries, which also have problems with the moral and physical state of power plants. So this mutual assistance is beneficial to everyone.
Work on the modernization of power plants and power grids continues on a daily basis, a separate monitoring has been established for the number and duration of power outages, which makes it possible to find and eliminate problem areas in the power supply. Not only modernization, but also an increase in power generation capacity is the primary task of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, taking into account the growth of the country’s population and its economic power, which require an increasing amount of energy consumption.
