Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad organized a videoconference for representatives of the medical services of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan and Pakistan, during which its participants exchanged experiences in combating the coronavirus pandemic, Dunyo reports.
During the event, detailed information was presented on the large-scale work being carried out under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan on countering the pandemic in the republic, supporting the population, entrepreneurs and sectors of the country’s economy.
Pakistani doctors have expressed great interest in quickly mobilizing available resources and opportunities to support the economy of Uzbekistan, as well as in successfully localizing sources and potential foci of infection.
The videoconference participants watched a film about successive measures being taken in Uzbekistan, which included personnel on the construction of a quarantine landfill in the Tashkent region.
“The gigantic efforts undertaken by the leadership of Uzbekistan are bearing fruit,” said S. Salim, professor of medical sciences at the Medical College of the Armed Forces of Pakistan. “We are impressed by the scale of the work that is worth exploring and applying in Pakistan.”
In turn, Pakistani military doctors shared their country’s experience in this direction. As noted, the country has experience fighting viruses of the coronavirus family, as Pakistani experts have been involved in localizing the effects of the Ebola virus in Liberia.
Since the first infected, the Pakistani authorities have established a quarantine zone in the city of Lahore, and the flow of passengers from China has been suspended.
An important role was played by the system of personalization of the population, introduced in 2006, which helped to identify people who had contact with the first infected person, as well as isolate the areas where the patient was supposedly located. This allowed the formation of "cluster control" of possible foci of the spread of the virus.
Treatment of infected people is carried out in the so-called three zones, each of which has a specific purpose. In particular, the "green territory", completely closed from people in contact with the coronavirus infection, including the treating staff. “Orange” - testing laboratories, where people with symptoms of coronavirus infection enter, as well as “red”, where patients are treated directly and COVID-19 is prevented.
As a result of the videoconference, the parties agreed to continue to exchange experiences and agreed on the need to consider the formation of a “working group” of medical services of the two countries to organize a constant exchange of experience and information in the fight against coronavirus.
