Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- For the first quarter of 2021, NPO Microgen, which is part of the management of the Natsimbio holding of Rostec State Corporation, increased the export of medicines to Uzbekistan by more than one and a half times compared to the same period of last year. In kind, about 500 thousand packages of medicines were exported to the republic.

The key sales driver was drugs of the bacteriophage pharmacological group, registered in 2019 in the country. Their share was about 40% of the total sales. The greatest demand was for Sextafag, which has been supplied to Uzbekistan since 2018. In the first quarter of this year alone, its sales to the republic exceeded the entire annual sales volume of the drug in 2020 by 60%. "Sextafag" has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial action and is aimed at the treatment and prevention of pyoinflammatory and enteral diseases caused by staphylococci, streptococci, Proteus, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli.

In addition, for the first time, wholesale deliveries of two types of bacteriophages - "Intesty" and "Staphylococcal bacteriophage" were organized in the republic - for the latter, a new, more convenient dosage form with a volume of 20 ml was registered in Uzbekistan last year.

Currently, we ship to Uzbekistan about 40 names of drugs, including such pharmacological groups as bacteriophages, vaccines and toxoids, as well as finished drugs used for the treatment of socially significant diseases: cardiovascular and many others,” said the general Andrei Zagorsky, director of Natsimbio, the managing organization of Microgen.

In addition to bacteriophages, in 2021, a wholesale batch of Russian botulinum toxin type A was exported to Uzbekistan for the first time, and supplies of allergens used for the treatment and prevention of allergic diseases were resumed.
