Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 March this year, within the framework of the official visit of the Prime Minister of Hungary V. Orban to the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with a major Hungarian entrepreneur and philanthropist Sandor Chanyi.
During the meeting, a dialogue was continued on the further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary in the investment, banking, financial, cultural and humanitarian spheres in the light of the agreements reached following the meeting held on 16 February 2021 in Budapest.
Prospects for cooperation in attracting Hungarian investments and advanced technologies for the implementation of projects in Uzbekistan in promising areas of agriculture were considered: irrigation, forestry, poultry farming, meat and milk production.
Positive trends were noted in the development of the banking sector in Uzbekistan and measures taken to reduce the participation of the state in this area, which, according to the Hungarian side, is one of the most striking indicators of increasing its investment attractiveness.
In this context, the parties discussed the participation of OTP Bank Group in the privatization of one of the commercial banks in Uzbekistan. They also discussed issues of cooperation in the exchange of experience in the field of microfinance and digitalization of banking services, the development of corporate and project financing, as well as mortgage lending.
The issues of cooperation in the field of sports were discussed separately, bearing in mind, in particular, the development of football in Uzbekistan. A number of areas of practical cooperation have been identified - training and advanced training of the coaching staff, improving the skills of members of the national team, developing youth teams and organizing friendly tournaments.
As a result of the meetings, the parties expressed their readiness to continue an active dialogue within the framework of the designated areas of cooperation.
