Medicine Prices to Fall by 40–60% Starting from March 2026 In Uzbekistan – Pharmaceutical Agency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is set to see a significant reduction in the prices of medicines, ranging from 40 to 60 percent, the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry reported.
According to the agency, this achievement is the result of ongoing reforms in the pharmaceutical sector.
From 1 March 2026, new pricing mechanisms will come into effect for the public, ensuring substantial price reductions for medicines.
A key factor in this process is the introduction of a reference pricing system for approximately two thousand imported drug brands, alongside a reduction in distributor mark-ups.
Additionally, active investment in the sector has contributed to the change. In 2025, total investment reached US$392 million, 2.3 times higher than the previous year, allowing for expanded production capacity and enhanced market competitiveness.
The agency also announced plans to extend price regulation to approximately four thousand additional medicine brands by the end of 2026.
At the same time, the production of import-substituting pharmaceuticals at domestic enterprises will be expanded through the transfer of modern technologies, ensuring long-term price stability and improved access to medicines for the population.
