Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A draft law “On Mass Media” with amendments has been posted on the SOVAZ portal for discussion.

The draft law was developed by the Agency of Information and Mass Communications in accordance with the Presidential resolutions and the Constitution.

The draft Law consists of seven chapters and 50 articles and envisages a number of amendments and additions to the current text of the document.

So, in the new project the following rules are laid down that regulate:

the cancellation of the media registration system and the introduction of a notification procedure for starting operations;

guarantees for establishing media relations with legislative, executive and judicial authorities;

provision of gender equality, equal rights and opportunities for women and men working in the media;

responsibility for violation of media freedom;

grounds for terminating the activities of the media, etc.

The project also envisages:

use of unmanned aerial vehicles;

the right to freely take photos and videos of public places, buildings and structures, with the exception of those prohibited for shooting with the corresponding signs of territories, the list of which is approved in accordance with the law;

increase in the share of foreign investment in the authorized capital of the media from 30 to 49%.
