Major Investment Boosts Power Capacity at Navoi TPP
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A major investment project is underway at the Navoi Thermal Power Plant, focused on constructing a third combined-cycle unit with a capacity of 650 MW.
The project is being implemented in partnership with leading international energy companies and aims to further develop the country’s energy infrastructure.
Currently, more than 2,400 specialists are engaged in the construction, with a significant portion being local personnel. In addition, foreign engineering and technical experts have been involved in the project, and over 200 units of specialized equipment are operating on site.
The project includes construction of administrative buildings, installation of gas and steam turbines, generators, a heat-recovery boiler, water-cooling systems, and other main and auxiliary facilities.
To ensure high reliability and efficiency, the project utilizes modern technologies and equipment manufactured in Japan, China, India, and South Korea.
The general contractor for the project is a consortium of Mitsubishi Corporation and Mitsubishi Power Ltd., while the Turkish company Çalık Enerji is participating as a subcontractor.
Once operational, the new combined-cycle unit is expected to produce up to 4.8 billion kWh of electricity and 200 Gcal of thermal energy annually, while saving approximately 870 million cubic meters of natural gas.
Experts note that the project will strengthen the country’s energy security, improve the reliability of electricity supply for households and industries, and support sustainable economic growth.
