Level of digital TV coverage makes up 54%

The session said that about 54% of population has access to digital television – citizens of Tashkent city, majority of districts of Tashkent region, Samarkand region, Khorezm region, Bukhara region, Andijan region, Namangan region, Ferghana region, Navoi region, Kashkadarya region and Karakalpakstan.

Uzbekistan is implementing a programme on transfer to digital television, which is realized in two stages – first stage in 2013-2015 and second stage in 2016-2017.

The session underlined that 84 high capacity transformers will be installed by the end of the first stage, which will allow to cover 90% of population and all large settlements with digital television.

As reported earlier, the level of digital television coverage of population of Uzbekistan was 45% in 2013 and 42% in 2012.
