Legislative Chamber discusses implementation of programme “The Year of attention and care of elder generation”
At the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan formed a strong legal base for social protection of population, including elder people, the press service of the Legislative Chamber said.
The state programme “The Year of attention and care of elder generation” determined tasks on further improving life of elder people, expanding material and moral support of them, improving social, pension and medical services to elder people, including to World War II and labour veterans, etc.
Shuhrat Bafoev, deputy chairperson of the Committee on democratic institute, NGOs and self-governing bodies of the Legislative Chamber, said that the state programe envisages further improving legislative base directed at taking care of elder people.
He said that it is planned to improve pension provision and social support of elder people, rendering convenient state services. It is planned to improve targeted social protection to elder people, especially to labour and war veterans, expand list of social and domestic services to them, rendered to people with disabilities.
The programme pays special attention to improving quality and level of medical and social services to veterans, organizing systematic rehabilitation services, expand preventive works, introduce modern treatment methods, etc.
This year, war and labour veterans can undergo free treatment and take rest in resorts in any convenient time. The elder people can receive discounts for railway and air tickets.
The roundtable discussed other issues related to realization of the state programme “The Year of attention and care of elder generation”.
