MPs considered a draft law, submitted to the lower house of the parliament by the Uzbek President, and report of Human Rights Commissioner of Oliy Majlis (Obmudsman).
Deputies considered a draft law on introducing changes to some legislative acts, directed at improving protection of human rights and freedoms in judicial-investigation process.
The document was developed based on international experience and envisages introduction of changes to the Criminal, Criminal Processual Codes and law “On prosecutors”.
Legislative Chamber passed the law in the second reading and directed to consideration of Senate of oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.
MPs also considered activities of the Ombudsman in 2017. It was said that Ombudsman received 9,074 appeals, including 1,774 appeals were received during personal meeting.
Competitive bodies opened 25 criminal, 27 administrative and 44 disciplinary cases. About 24 resolutions on refusal to open criminal cases were abolished and 10 protests and appeals were submitted to courts.
During the sessions, MPs considered other issues related to jurisdiction of the Legislative Chamber.
