Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 August 2020, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel Eduard Shapira, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan.
During the dialogue, the sides stressed the importance attached by the governments of the two countries to deepening trade, economic and investment ties. In this context, prospects were outlined for borrowing the experience of Israel's economic development, attracting Israeli investments and advanced technologies in such areas as agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and tourism.
Separately, interest was expressed in organizing a systematic study of Israel's best practices in the field of introducing innovative technologies for the development of livestock breeding, for which, as the epidemiological situation stabilizes, a visit of Israeli experts to Uzbekistan will be organized.
They also voiced their readiness for further interaction in order to develop joint practical measures to build up and diversify mutual trade.
The issues of organizing the Uzbek-Israeli business forum with the prospect of holding it within the framework of the 1st meeting of the Uzbek-Israeli Intergovernmental Commission in Tel Aviv, scheduled for December this year, were discussed.
The parties also noted the significant potential for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, meaning the exchange of experience in the field of medical tourism and the organization of joint events, festivals and tourism fairs in major cities of Uzbekistan as the epidemiological situation stabilizes.
Special attention was paid to measures to establish interregional cooperation, in connection with which the possibilities for establishing twinning relations between the cities of Bukhara and Halon were discussed.
At the end of the meeting, the Uzbek side expressed gratitude for the significant contribution made by Mr Shapira to the development of bilateral partnership between Uzbekistan and Israel.
