Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – On 18 December, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Mr. Yoshinori Fujiyama and Deputy Minister of Transport, Chairman of the State Committee for Roads of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdurakhmon Abduvaliev held a Handover Ceremony of road construction equipment , which was provided free of charge within the framework of exchange notes signed in 2018 under the Program for Economic and Social Development in the amount of 800 million Japanese yen (approximately US$7.3 million).
According to this project, 16 units of high-quality Japanese-made road repair equipment are supplied to rural areas of 4 regions of the Republic (Syrdarya, Jizzak, Khorezm and the Republic of Karakalpakstan), such as (1) road stabilizer, (2) vibration single drum roller, (3) vibrating tandem roller and (4) pneumatic tire roller.
Most of the roads in the rural areas of these regions are still unpaved, which often causes problems with flooding, landslides caused by heavy rains in the summer and freezing during the cold winter months. In this regard, rapid repair and recovery after natural disasters is an urgent task to ensure economic and social stability in rural areas, where most of the population lives.
It is expected that the use of this equipment will help to significantly optimize the process of road construction work on the ground and shorten the period of work, which, in turn, will contribute to a radical improvement in transport and distribution functions and revitalize the economy in the Republic.
