Japan provides US$1.13m grants to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Japan issued 11 new grants to Uzbekistan for US$1.132 million within the programme “No-string aid to social grass-root projects”.

The ceremony of signing grant contracts was held in Tashkent on 11 March. Ambassador of Japan Fumihiko Kato, Ministry of Healthcare Anvar Alimov, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Support Furkat Halilov and Deputy Minister of Education Abdugani Holbekov attended the event.

All 11 projects will be implemented within a year. The resources were issued to finance equipment of educational and medical institutions.

According to Embassy of Japan, in 1995-2014, Japan provided US$22.248 million to 341 projects within the programe to medical and educational institutions, local bodies and NGOs of Uzbekistan.
