Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 March 2021, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the most important issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation and the prospects for deepening large-scale partnership between the two countries. The strategic nature of relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey was noted, which received a significant impetus thanks to the high-level visit in 2020.
In this context, the parties welcomed the opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Samarkand, which is a clear evidence of the strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
The Uzbek side expressed gratitude for Turkey’s support in the implementation of socio-economic reforms in the Republic, including through the introduction of Turkish experience in improving the investment climate, regional development and improving the management of special economic zones.
The dialogue also touched upon issues of cultural and humanitarian cooperation - an agreement was reached on close cooperation within the framework of the organization of the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan in Ankara and Istanbul this June.
Organizational issues related to the holding of a number of joint events, including meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Turkey and a business forum for representatives of the business communities of the two countries, which will be held in May this year in Tashkent, as well as the second meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Council for Strategic Cooperation.
Following the meeting, further steps were outlined to implement the agreements reached and to consistently expand multifaceted cooperation between the two states.
