Issues of improving legislation in the field of mediation in Uzbekistan were discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 October, in the form of videoconference, a round table was held on the topic “Improving legislation on mediation in Uzbekistan” with the participation of the Development Strategy Center, the Senate Committee on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption, Tashkent International the Arbitration Center, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); and the Institute for Law and Parliamentary Studies.

The main purpose of the round table is to develop the necessary proposals and recommendations for the widespread use of mediation in Uzbekistan by improving legislation in the field of mediation, based on modern requirements and a thorough analysis of the rich experience of advanced countries in the field of mediation.

The round table was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption Sh.Chulliev, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center E. Tulyakov, Director of the Institute of Legislation and Parliamentary Research F. Otakhonov, Director of the Tashkent International Arbitration Center D. Baizakov, Director of the Center for Mediation of Tashkent City D. Kimsanov, Head of the Department of Civil Law Subjects at the Center for Advanced Studies of Lawyers under the Ministry of Justice S. Maripov, as well as representatives of the United States Agency for International Development, professional mediators, faculty of the Tashkent State University of Law and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, lawyers and others.

During the event, F. Otakhanov made a report "Legal foundations of mediation in Uzbekistan", D. Kimsanov - with a report "UN Convention on International Peace Agreements Achieved Through Mediation: Prospects for Uzbekistan", N. Malikov - with a report "Tashkent International Arbitration center: international mediation for commercial and investment disputes ", S. Maripova - with the report" Recent changes in the training and certification of mediators. "

Director of the Institute for Problems of Legislation and Parliamentary Research F. Otakhanov spoke about the trends in the introduction of mediation in Uzbekistan, its basic principles, the creation of a legal framework for mediation, requirements for mediators, maintaining a register of professional mediators, improving the activities of the mediation center, and also shared sound recommendations for improvement in the country legislation on mediation.

At the end of the round table, a number of proposals and recommendations were developed to improve the legislation on mediation in Uzbekistan, its widespread use in the future, and eliminate shortcomings in law enforcement practice in the field of mediation.
