Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 21 August, within the framework of the visit of the government delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation in Moscow, negotiations were held with the heads of large Russian companies, in particular, with the founder and CEO of the e-commerce portal "Wildberries" T. Bakalchuk, as well as with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NIPIGAZ Group of Companies B. Lim and the General Director of the Sibur company M. Karisalov.
Also, a meeting was organized with the General Director of the exhibition complex "VDNKh" S. Shogurov and a visit to the territory of the exposition center "Exhibition and Cultural Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
During the meeting with the management of the Wildberries company, issues of current interaction within the framework of the project to create a large online trading platform and wholesale distribution centers in Uzbekistan were considered.
Wildberries is one of the largest e-commerce companies in Russia and the CIS countries. In 2019, the company was recognized as the largest retailer in Russia. The company’s website contains products of more than 30 different brands, and the daily attendance is on average 6 million customers, due to which about 750 thousand orders are processed per day. Wildberries successfully operates in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. In January 2020, the company began operating on the EU market, opening sales in Poland and Slovakia. Today about 100 manufacturers from Uzbekistan are already using the Wildberries portal.
It was noted that the sphere of e-commerce in Uzbekistan has significant potential: the volume of the online trade market could be about US$12-15 billion. At the same time, in recent years, positive trends have been observed in this sector: the total amount of electronic transactions in Uzbekistan in 2019 amounted to US$344.3 million, and the annual growth in the share of e-commerce in the country’s GDP is estimated at 30%.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to establish close cooperation aimed at the successful implementation of this project.
The meeting with the management of the NIPIGAZ holding and the Sibur company made it possible to substantively consider the possibilities for cooperation in systematizing the sphere of labor migration by establishing effective interaction with large Russian corporations.
An agreement was reached on the joint development of mechanisms for organized selection and professional training of personnel from among Uzbek citizens living in the Russian Federation, as well as their further employment within the framework of industrial and infrastructure projects implemented by Russian companies. Also, the Russian side expressed its readiness to assist in finding new partners from among Russian construction and industrial enterprises for cooperation in this direction.
As part of the visit to the VDNKh exhibition complex, the progress of the repair and restoration work in pavilion No. 66 “Uzbekistan” was reviewed, and practical measures were discussed to ensure the timely commissioning of the facility.
In this context, the issues of organizing the II Forum of Interregional Cooperation, the National Exhibition "Made in Uzbekistan", the Media Forum and the Educational Forum were also considered.
An agreement was reached on the creation of a mechanism for close interaction between the administration of the VDNKh complex and the State Unitary Enterprise "Interforum" under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan to accelerate the work carried out and promptly resolve emerging issues.
