Investment projects of Jizzakh region were considered

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of investment projects formed for Jizzakh region on 15 February.

The head of state was provided with information on 515 projects that will be implemented in the region this year. The total cost of these projects is 35.5 trillion soums. As a result of their implementation, it is expected to create new enterprises with a total production volume of 25 trillion soums per year, as well as almost 23 thousand jobs. Opportunities will emerge to replace US$264 million in imports and US$311 million in merchandise exports.

In Jizzakh region, the construction materials industry, the automotive and textile industries, as well as agriculture have great potential. When developing projects, these areas are defined as "drivers".

Thus, it is planned to implement 8 projects in the building materials industry. These include the production of basalt fiber and various materials from it. Today, a land plot has been allocated for this project worth 723 billion soums. The company is expected to start operating in the third quarter of this year and create 205 jobs.

Also among presented are perspective projects for the production of high grade cement, concrete slabs, fittings, geogrids.

A number of projects are also planned in the automotive industry. Thus, the project for the production of minibuses, commercial vehicles and trucks is of great importance for the domestic market. It is planned that the plant will be commissioned by the end of this year and will employ 500 people.

The project to create a textile complex in the city of Jizzak will be an important contribution to the deep processing of local raw materials and increase the employment of women. Construction of the US$39 million facility will begin this summer, with production slated to begin next year.

The cultivation, processing and export of medicinal plants in mountainous areas is one of the reserves, the need to use which the head of state pointed out. Today in our country there are 7 clusters specializing in this area. In particular, the BMB Trade Group cluster is developing the cultivation and processing of saffron in Bakhmal district. As a result of the project worth more than US$30 million, 200 people will be employed.

A number of projects for the development of animal husbandry, poultry farming, processing of meat and dairy products, and the production of silk fabrics were presented.

During the presentation, the economic efficiency and sources of financing for these projects, issues of infrastructure support were considered.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that the potential of Jizzakh region is enormous and allows many more large projects to be implemented. It was instructed to take measures to deepen localization in textile production and the production of finished products, to ensure food security through the cultivation of demanded fruit and vegetable crops on newly developed lands, and to attract foreign investment in the extraction of minerals.
