Intl expertise of hydro power stations needed, says Uzbek official

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Azimov stated that interests of neighboring states should be taken into account at the construction of hydro power stations at trans-boundary rivers and waterways.

Speaking at the seventh session of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, Azimov said the construction of hydro power stations cannot be built without international expertise.

He said that the international expertise can reveal any factors of negative consequences to environment of the Central Asian region.
