The agreement was signed on 6 October 2017 in Tashkent within the framework of the state visit of the then President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev to Uzbekistan
The document is aimed at strengthening security and confidence, maintaining calm and stability in the region of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border.
The agreement will allow cooperation on regional security and stability issues, combating terrorism and illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, countering new challenges and threats, as well as illegal migration across the state border.
