Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 13 November 2020, intergovernmental consultations on financial and technical cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany were held in the format of a video conference.
From the German side, the leadership of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) took part in the event, and from the Uzbek side - the heads of a number of relevant ministries and departments. The co-chairs were the head of the BMZ Department for Cooperation with Central Asia, Afghanistan and Pakistan H. Litzinger and Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.Vafaev.
During the consultations, an exchange of views took place on the implementation of the current program of financial and technical cooperation and priority areas within the framework of practical cooperation in 2021.
The German partners positively assessed the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan in key sectors and spheres of the economy. At the same time, special attention is paid to the existing opportunities for deepening cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, health care, higher education, ensuring employment of the population, improving standardization and quarantine services, digitalizing the activities of state bodies of the republic, as well as the integrated development of the Aral Sea region.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on the preparation of a promising list of projects for 2021, taking into account the priority areas for Uzbekistan, in order to approve it in the framework of intergovernmental negotiations next year.
