In continuation of conducted training in 2016, where 14 border guards and law enforcement officers were trained on profiling and identification techniques, this workshop will gather European expert and 16 professionals from the State Border Service Committee of the National Security Service and Ministry of Interior of Uzbekistan in order to improve and enhance existing mechanisms of identification and profiling of foreign terrorists fighters and strengthen the cooperation and interaction of concerned agencies.

During the workshop the experts will exchange their experience and best practices in identification and profiling of foreign terrorists fighters, identify main indicators and elaborate recommendations of enhancement of the identification and profiling methodology of foreign terrorists fighters at border crossing points, as well as discuss further practical steps by national agencies to implement the recommendations of the UN Security Council in the field of countering violent extremism.

The Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA) launched its activities in 2003 to strengthen partnership between the Central Asian governments in the area of border management. The EU allocated more than EUR 40 mln to BOMCA for 2003-2018, while almost EUR 5 mln were assigned for implementation of the 9th phase of the Programme for 2015-2018.
