Implementation of the "Road Map" to develop cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, on 20 July, the first coordinating meeting of the interdepartmental Working Group headed by the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Helena Fraser took place in the form of video conference.

The purpose of the event, which was attended by the heads of all agencies of the Organization, is the timely and high-quality implementation of the Action Plan ("Road Map") for the development of cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies.

The event was also attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodiq Safoev, as well as senior officials of ministries and departments and specialized structures of the UN.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation between ministries and departments and all specialized UN structures in fulfilling the tasks identified in the Road Map, as well as the current situation and prospects in the field of technical assistance.

It was noted that the "Road Map", which envisages the implementation of new programs in the field of health, education, upbringing, culture, tourism, together with UN institutions, is important in the concept of a new level of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN.

This Action Plan aims to deepen and strengthen cooperation with the UN system at the national, regional and global levels in order to assist the most vulnerable and needy segments of the population in the development of human potential.

During the meeting, which took place online, information was given on the implementation of the tasks defined in the "Roadmap".

They also exchanged views on the implementation of programs and projects of UN agencies aimed at assisting Uzbekistan in implementing the Roadmap in June and July 2020, identifying specific areas of financial and technical assistance from UN agencies for the implementation of the document in the future.

Also, suggestions and opinions were expressed on the continuation of work in this direction.
