Governor of Samarkand Region Discusses Expanding Cooperation with French Ambassador

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Samarkand Region Governor Adiz Boboev held a meeting with French Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Walid Foucq, to discuss further development of bilateral cooperation and the expansion of joint projects in education, culture, tourism, and investment.

During the talks, the ambassador briefed the governor on the activities of the Alliance Française in Samarkand, highlighting its role in promoting the French language and culture, strengthening cultural ties, and fostering linguistic and cultural diversity. He requested regional support for certain facility-related privileges for the organization.

Discussions focused on expanding international collaboration, preparing qualified personnel for tourism and service sectors, and increasing opportunities for studying abroad. The ambassador proposed converting one school in each city and district of Samarkand Region into specialized institutions with advanced French language programs.

Proposals were also made to develop interregional trade and economic ties and increase direct investments, as well as enhance cooperation in higher education and medical training. Governor Boboev emphasized that Samarkand offers favorable conditions for foreign investors and expressed readiness to implement joint projects with French companies, attract advanced technologies, and exchange expertise.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing interest in establishing mutually beneficial, long-term cooperation and agreeing to define further practical steps.
