Governor of Oryol region and Ambassador of Uzbekistan discuss prospects for the development of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Governor of Oryol region Andrei Klychkov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov.

Andrei Klychkov and Botirzhon Asadov discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation between Oryol region and Uzbekistan in the field of agriculture, industry, education and science, tourism.

Foreign trade turnover of Oryol region and the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2018 made up US$5.2 million, which is 4.8% higher than the same indicator in 2017 (no import operations were carried out).

Sugar, chemical products, ceramic products, ferrous metals, equipment and mechanical devices, tools and optical devices were delivered from Oryol region to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

“We are interested in continuing the development of already existing areas of cooperation and to maximally intensify them, as well as to consider the possibility of additional interaction mechanisms, creation of joint ventures,” the Governor of Oryol region said.

Andrei Klychkov told about the investment potential of the region, about the creation of a Special Economic Zone on the territory of the industrial park "Green Grove" in Mtsensk District.

Botirjon Asadov expressed interest in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Oryol region. He noted that during his visit to our region he will meet with representatives of the business community in order to consider new opportunities for developing interaction. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited the Confectionary Factory LLC and the Central Trading Enterprise of the Production Association “Union of Orlovschiny”.

During the talks, the organization of business missions was also discussed with the involvement of leading enterprises of the industrial and agro-industrial complexes of Oryol region and the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to establish business contacts with potential partners. The delegation of Oryol region is scheduled to participate in the International Investment Forum in the Jizzakh region of the Republic of Uzbekistan in May 2019 and in the II Forum of interregional cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation

The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the development of interaction between higher educational institutions of Oryol region and the Republic of Uzbekistan and the organization of student exchanges. It was noted that higher educational institutions of Oryol region are actively working to develop ties with Uzbekistan. Oryol State University named after I. S. Turgenev implements contracts with the Fergana and Karshi State Universities. Currently, 18 students from Uzbekistan are studying at the university. Representatives of Karshi State University will take part in the conference, which will be held at the art-graphic faculty of the OTU named after I. S. Turgenev in April of this year.

Also among the promising areas of cooperation is the organization of supplies to the Republic of Uzbekistan of products manufactured by agricultural and industrial enterprises of Oryol region, which is in demand in the market of Uzbekistan; implementation of joint projects in the light industry (textile and footwear) and the production of building materials; the increase in trade volumes due to deliveries from the Orel region to the Republic of Uzbekistan of the production of Confectionary Factory LLC; implementation in Oryol region of a joint investment project for the construction of a warehouse and processing complex with the function of purchasing, storing and processing agricultural products.

In addition, the parties noted the significant potential for cooperation in the cultural and tourist fields and expressed interest in the development of these areas of interaction.
