Governor of Ferghana Orders Creation of a “Tourism Street” in Kokand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As part of a working visit to Kokand, Hayrullo Bozorov, Governor of Ferghana Region, reviewed a project outlining the concept for tourism development in the area.

At a meeting with relevant officials, key directions for refining the document were discussed.

As a pilot initiative, the creation of a “Tourism Street” was commissioned. Plans include cataloging historical sites along the route, establishing hotels, service and information centers, organizing craft shops, and developing modern tourist infrastructure.

Additional tasks were set for improving engineering and road infrastructure, addressing transport and logistics issues, and conducting a full inventory of all facilities.

The meeting also addressed the effective use of urban buildings and structures, the implementation of directives in industry and entrepreneurship, and efforts to reduce poverty.

It was noted that Kokand’s existing potential is not fully utilized, and driver projects require further elaboration. In this context, a list of priority measures was identified to accelerate the development of the city’s tourism sector.
