Girl Killed in Russian Fire Repatriated to Uzbekistan on Special Flight

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The General Consulate of Uzbekistan facilitated the urgent repatriation of the body of a minor Uzbek citizen, H.A., who died in a tragic fire in Bataysk, Rostov Region, Russia, the Dunyо news agency reports.

According to the consulate, Uzbek citizen B.Y. notified officials that his granddaughter, born in 2019, had died in a fire at a private residence. The situation was complicated by the complete destruction of the girl’s personal documents, creating legal obstacles for processing her return.

Consulate staff coordinated promptly with Russian medical institutions and relevant authorities. Within one working day, a temporary travel certificate was issued in the girl’s name. The Migration Agency Fund covered repatriation costs, and the body was flown to Uzbekistan via a national airline, Uzbekistan Airways.

The tragedy is compounded by the fact that the girl had previously lost her parents in a traffic accident. The consular team provided all necessary legal and diplomatic assistance to her family in a timely manner.
