Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 February 2021, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held talks with Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava, during which the current state of and prospects for deepening investment, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
During a constructive dialogue, the parties noted the positive trends in the growth of a multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Georgia and expressed their commitment to close interaction aimed at developing investment and economic ties by enhancing bilateral contacts at various levels.
The parties exchanged views on key issues on the agenda and discussed priority areas of cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture, transport, energy, health care, education and the banking and financial sector. The presence of all the necessary resources for a significant increase in the indicators of economic partnership was emphasized.
It was agreed that the parties will step up work on establishing regular communication between the ministries of trade and transport of the two countries in order to timely identify and prevent problems in the field of international freight transport.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of tourism - the Georgian side expressed its readiness to assist in attracting leading private Georgian companies and representatives of the media to organize a press tour to Uzbekistan, the purpose of which will be to exchange experience in the field of tourism business.
As a result of the talks, an agreement was reached to intensify the practice of regular negotiations and videoconferences at the level of relevant ministries and departments of the two countries in order to promptly resolve emerging issues of bilateral trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian partnership.
The parties also agreed to create a joint working group to build up investment, trade and economic cooperation, headed by the deputy ministers of the two countries. The main tasks of the working group will be to develop proposals and practical measures to expand the range and volume of trade, as well as to study the possibilities of creating joint ventures in the territories of the two states.
