France and Ferghana Region Expand Cooperation in Education and Winemaking
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — French Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Walid Fouque, who is on a working visit to the Ferghana Region, met with the regional Hokim, Khayrullo Bozorov.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the active development of Franco-Uzbek cooperation across multiple sectors. The role of friendly relations between the heads of state was emphasized as a foundation for expanding collaboration at both sectoral and regional levels.
Examples of ongoing initiatives include the participation of the French company Poma in the creation of tourist complexes in Ferghana and joint projects in the winemaking industry. Prospects for further cooperation in agriculture, the food industry, and both primary and higher education were also discussed.
The French Ambassador outlined plans for an upcoming festival aimed at showcasing French expertise in viticulture and winemaking, promoting exports, and introducing modern technologies. Attention was also given to increasing the number of Uzbek students in French master’s programs and opportunities for collaboration with educational institutions in the Ferghana Region.
Proposals for establishing specialized schools with an advanced French-language curriculum were reviewed. Hokim Khairullo Bozorov expressed support for these initiatives and emphasized the importance of inviting French entrepreneurs to the winemaking festival, as well as strengthening partnerships under sister-city programs in the Ferghana Valley and neighboring areas.
