The Office of the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan stated that it opened criminal proceedings against Rashitjon Kadirov under articles 165 (extortion), 205 (abuse of power or official authority), 210 (bribery) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.

On 26 February, Rashitjon Kadirov was detained in accordance with article 221 of the Criminal Procedural Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said. Currently, the investigation is underway.

Rashitjon Kadirov worked as the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan from 2000 to 2015. From 2015 to 2017, he served as a judge of the Constitutional Court.
