Former deputies of Prosecutor General detained
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Former Deputy Prosecutors and former prosecutors of Tashkent region Ulugbek Sunnatov and Jamshid Faiziev were detained in Uzbekistan, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan said.

The Prosecutor General’s Office stated that the detention was carried out within the framework of the criminal case against former Prosecutor General Rashitjon Kadirov.

At the same time, the department refuted the reports of some mass media about detention of the former first deputy prosecutor of Tashkent city Miralgam Mirzaev and his family members on the “Kadirov case”.

The Prosecutor General’s Office explained that the department did not disclose the details of the criminal case in order to prevent the disclosure of the secrecy of the investigation and violation of the rights of participants in the criminal process.

In line with the legislation of Uzbekistan, investigative bodies have right not to disclose a whole or certain part of information, related to criminal case.

Such information is not disclosed in order to ensure a qualitative, complete and objective investigation, as well as to prevent destruction of traces of crime, concealment of objects, funds obtained by criminal means, obstructing the activities of the investigative authorities in the administration of justice or committing other unlawful actions that impede the investigation process.

The disclosure of such information may damage operational measures, preliminary investigation, prevent timely disclosure and capture of guilty persons.

As soon as available information on this criminal case, which does not represent the secret of the investigation, will be published on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the department said.
