Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan hold political consultations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 November 2018, a regular round of Uzbek-Kyrgyz ministerial political consultations was held in Bishkek.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova conducted a thorough review of the state and prospects of strengthening bilateral relations, and exchanged views on topical issues of interaction within international and regional organizations.

The sides paid special attention to the schedule and agenda of upcoming contacts at the highest and high levels, which are key components of the dynamic development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting noted with satisfaction the gradual growth of bilateral trade, which in 2017 and 2018 increased by almost 50% annually.

The first meeting of the Council of Khokims of the border areas of Uzbekistan and plenipotentiary representatives of the Government of Kyrgyzstan in the border areas with the participation of prime ministers held on March 29-30, 2018 allowed to intensify horizontal ties in trade and economic, investment, transport and communication, cultural, humanitarian and other areas of the regions. The second meeting is scheduled for December 2018.

The parties welcomed the widespread celebration in both countries of the 90th anniversary of the great writer Chingiz Aitmatov, which became a bright event in the life of the Uzbek and Kyrgyz peoples.
