Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The indicator “Percentage of undernourished people,” regularly published by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is important information on the living standards of the country's population at the international level, Dunyo reported.
After a seminar held on 10-12 December 2019 in Tashkent on this issue, FAO specialists, taking into account the information provided by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, recalculated the indicator “Share of undernourished people” for the republic since 2014 based on New Food Balance Sheet - standards for new food balances.
According to the results of the review, the indicator was 2.8%, that is, 0.9 million people in 2016-2018 and 2.6% - 0.8 million people in 2017-2019.
These data were officially released on the FAO official website and at the presentation of the report “The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2020” (SOFI 2020), which took place on 13 July 2020.
