Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) hosted a meeting between FAO Deputy Representative in Uzbekistan Sherzod Umarov and the rector of this university, Chairman of the Consortium of Agricultural Universities of Central Asia and the South Caucasus (CASCAD) Uktam Umurzakov.
The event was also attended by employees of the institute and specialists of the FAO Representative Office in Uzbekistan.
The parties discussed the priority areas of cooperation between FAO and the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers. In particular, the sides discussed the possibility of opening a National Center for Soil and Resource Conservation Technologies at the institute.
The creation of such a center will allow developing research work in this area and improving the application of these technologies in Uzbekistan. In addition, they discussed the issues of creating a demonstration greenhouse farm and attracting university teachers to existing projects implemented by FAO in Uzbekistan.
It was emphasized that participation in FAO projects will increase the potential of the institute’s teachers and open up new mutually beneficial prospects for cooperation.
