Explosion at Shams Ltd Facility in Bukhara: 4 Dead, 4 Injured

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — An explosion occurred on the morning of 6 December at a workshop producing explosives for the mining industry operated by Shams Ltd in the Kagan district of the Bukhara region, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan reported.

The blast triggered a fire, and seven firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene. The fire was fully extinguished by 10:27.

Thirty employees were inside the workshop at the time of the explosion. Four people were killed and four others sustained minor injuries; two of the injured have already been discharged after receiving medical treatment.

Following instructions from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a government commission has been established under the leadership of Abdouvakos Rafikov, Chairman of the Committee for Industrial, Radiation and Nuclear Safety under the Cabinet of Ministers.

The commission will provide assistance to the victims, manage the aftermath of the incident, identify the cause of the explosion, and develop measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
