Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Within the framework of the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Commonwealth of Independent States on 15 July 2020, experts of the CIS member states discussed the draft Joint Statement of the Heads of State of the Commonwealth on cooperation in the field of international information security in the form of video conference.
The event was attended by representatives of the Foreign Ministries of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova (as an observer), Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The document under discussion is intended to draw the attention of the world community to the inadmissibility of using modern information and communication technologies for purposes incompatible with the tasks of maintaining international peace, security and stability.
The participants discussed the comments and suggestions of the parties to the draft document and agreed on the main provisions of the text.
It was decided to continue discussion of the draft Joint Statement on 21 August 2020 in the form of a videoconference.
After final approval, the document is planned to be adopted during a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State in October this year in Tashkent.
