Escrow Transactions Gain Momentum in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has reported a rise in activity regarding the use of escrow accounts for real estate and motor vehicle purchase-and-sale transactions.
Between 1 and 7 April, the total number of such operations—including both completed and ongoing transactions—reached 6,156. Of these, 3,904 deals involved vehicles, while 2,252 were related to real estate properties. During this period, 5,383 transactions were successfully finalized, while 773 remain in the processing stage.
The highest levels of activity were recorded in Tashkent, as well as the Ferghana and Samarkand regions. Specifically, 1,708 transactions were processed in the capital, followed by 598 in the Fergana region and 519 in the Samarkand region.
Figures for other regions were distributed as follows: the Republic of Karakalpakstan recorded 264 transactions, Khorezm region 324, Navoi region 166, Bukhara region 341, Kashkadarya region 350, Surkhandarya region 271, Tashkent region 391, Jizzakh region 199, Syrdarya region 136, Namangan region 448, and Andijan region 441.
The regulator notes that the escrow account mechanism enhances the security and transparency of settlements by reducing financial risks for participants. This tool is gaining widespread adoption among citizens as it continues to strengthen trust in large-scale domestic transactions.
