Erdoğan appreciates Uzbekistan’s decision to introduce visa-free regime for Turkish citizens

In the conversation, the heads of the two states noted with satisfaction that the fruitful high-level visit to the Republic of Turkey in October 2017 brought the multifaceted and mutually beneficial Uzbek-Turkish cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

The parties thoroughly reviewed implementation of specific agreements reached on the basis of this historic visit, preparation and implementation of major joint projects in trade and economic, investment, technological, banking, finance, transport, tourism and other important spheres.

An agreement was reached to maintain a permanent dialogue and hold meetings between the governments of the two states in order to fully implement these agreements in a timely manner, speeding up implementation of important projects.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highly appreciated the decision taken by Uzbekistan to introduce a visa-free regime for Turkish citizens for a period of 30 days and expressed sincere gratitude to the head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev for this.

The President of Uzbekistan stressed that this decision is a practical result of the agreements reached within the framework of summits. It was noted that its adoption will serve to create new opportunities in the trade, economic, investment and tourism spheres, most importantly - further strengthening ties of friendship between the fraternal peoples, creating broad conditions for Uzbek citizens to visit Uzbekistan.

The sides exchanged views on the international agenda and other topical issues.

Uzbek President invited the delegation of the Republic of Turkey to international conference on peace in Afghanistan, scheduled in Tashkent in March 2018 with the goal of ensuring peace, tranquility and sustainable development in the region.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in his turn, highly appreciated this initiative, expressed full support for its implementation and Turkey’s willingness to participate in this event with a high-level delegation.

At the end of the conversation, the heads of the two states reaffirmed their readiness to comprehensively develop and strengthen the traditionally friendly and fraternal ties and close cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey.
