Envoy: Richard Stagg’s visit is continuation of British-Uzbek dialogue
Ambassador Edgar touched upon the first visit by a representative of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to Uzbekistan in 2015.
He said that Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Afghanistan Sir Richard Stagg visited Tashkent on 22 January and held a meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Alisher Kurmanov.
They discussed further cooperation and assistance to the Afghan government in providing effective security and economic development.
Her Majesty’s Ambassador Stagg also met with the experts of the Institute of Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan and the Center for Regional Security Studies and Her Majesty’s Ambassador also delivered a lecture to students and faculty at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, where he briefed the audience about military, technical and economic assistance to Afghanistan.
George Edgar said that the visit of the Ambassador of Great Britain to Afghanistan Richard Stagg to Uzbekistan is continuation of the British-Uzbek intergovernmental dialogue on Afghanistan and regional security as a whole. He underlined that two states have common interest in transforming Afghanistan into peaceful and economically sustainable state after decades of conflicts and instability.
