Drunk Driver Apologizes After Assault on Police in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A citizen, Pardayev, detained after attacking officers of the patrol and post service (PPS) in Tashkent, publicly expressed remorse for his actions and apologized to all affected parties.

Investigations determined that the offender was driving under the influence of alcohol, with license plates removed, ran a red traffic light, and caused a road traffic incident.

When police attempted to detain him, he resisted and struck one of the officers with his fist.

After his detention, he apologized publicly:
"Due to alcohol consumption, I lost control of myself. I raised my hand against an officer. I deeply regret what happened and ask for forgiveness. My foolishness led to these consequences."

He also warned others against drinking, acknowledging that his actions behind the wheel could have resulted in far more serious consequences for bystanders.

Additionally, he expressed regret that his behavior harmed the reputation of his elder brother, Sherzod Pardayev, a police lieutenant colonel, who had built a long-standing career in law enforcement. By order of the ministry, his brother was immediately relieved of his leadership position at the Syrdarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs following the incident.

The Yashnabad District Prosecutor’s Office has opened a criminal case against Pardayev under Part 2 of Article 219 and Part 3 of Article 277(g) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

He has been placed in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
