Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A full cycle, starting from breeding calves and ending with the sale of the product, will establish Jizzakh Organic agricultural cluster. Now the demand on the market is satisfied by the import of meat from abroad.
In October this year, the national cluster Jizzakh Organic will bring to Uzbekistan 5,000 head of high-bred cattle from Russia and the USA. The import of Angus and Hereford heifers will initiate the industrial production of marbled beef in Uzbekistan.
The Jizzakh cluster will become the first company in Uzbekistan with a full cycle production. Now the demand on the market is satisfied by importing expensive meat.
The total investment in this project is US$55 million. Of this, US$18 million will be used to purchase the mother herd.
“The process of raising bulls and cows to obtain marbled beef must be carried out with strict adherence to technology. Heifers brought in this October will give birth in 2-5 months. Up to eight months, the calves will be near the mother, receiving the necessary minerals and vitamins with her milk for maximum weight gain, and after another 8 to 16 months they will be fed with grain and corn, thanks to which the meat will acquire the required marbling ratio. Thus, in 2022, the first marbled beef from cattle raised in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan will appear,” Director of Jizzakh Organic Hikmatilla Karimov said.
By October 2020, Jizzakh Organic will complete the construction of a feedlot for gobies and two winter camps for heifers. The facilities were designed by the Australian company Thompson Longhorn. The feedlot and winter camps provide all the conditions for the comfortable growth of animals: artesian wells with mechanisms for normalized supply and heating of water for drinkers, feed stands, automatic feeding systems, wind protection, sun protection and much more.
“The fidlot is designed for keeping 20 thousand heads. To load it to full capacity, Jizzakh Organic launches a Farmer Program. The farm can buy high-bred heifers, wait for the offspring and after 8 months sell the bulls to our cluster at a fair price. We will continue to feed the purchased calves using a special technology for obtaining marbled meat. We are confident that the program will contribute to an increase in the number of pedigree livestock in Uzbekistan,” Jizzakh Organic Director Hikmatilla Karimov added.
In November last year, at a video conference meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the need to improve the breed of livestock in Uzbekistan.
Jizzakh Organic was created in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 619 from 23 July 2019 to fulfill the tasks identified by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Action Strategy for five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021. The work of the enterprise is aimed at developing the agricultural sector of Uzbekistan. Jizzakh Organic is engaged in animal husbandry, crop production and selection and genetic work. The total investment in the Jizzakh agricultural cluster is US$150 million.
