Diplomats of Uzbekistan and Poland review prospects for development of bilateral relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 February 2019, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov, who was part of the Uzbek delegation in Warsaw, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Bartosh Chihotsky.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed the state and prospects of development of the Uzbek-Polish partnership bilaterally, as well as in the format of Uzbekistan-European Union.

The Polish diplomat noted that large-scale reforms in all spheres carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as well as strengthening regional cooperation, are highly appreciated in his country. The Polish side expressed support for a constructive policy towards Afghanistan.

The sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in intensifying political dialogue, building up trade and economic ties, solving transport, communication and other issues.

The Polish side spoke in favor of continuing consultations between relevant departments of the two countries on attracting labor from Uzbekistan to the Polish labor market.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation in the field of tourism. As it was emphasized, in Eastern Europe, the Poles are the most active travelers, and Uzbekistan has the largest tourist potential in the region. In this regard, Polish travel companies and business circles are actively considering the proposals of the Uzbek side not only for the exchange of tourists, but also for the implementation of projects for the development of tourism infrastructure in the republic.

On 31 January, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov also met with the Head of the Eastern Program of the Polish Institute of International Relations Anna Dyner.

The sides discussed topical issues of development of bilateral cooperation, including between the analytical structures of Uzbekistan and Poland.
