Development of standardization in the field of vehicles of Uzbekistan was presented in Geneva

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 12-14 November 2019, a delegation of Uzbekistan, headed by the director of the Republican Center for Testing and Certification Akilbek Mustafayev, took part in the 179th session of the World Forum to agree on vehicle regulations within the framework of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE).

At the forum, more than 120 representatives of the automotive industry discussed above 50 issues aimed at improving activities in the field of harmonization of transport standards, environmental protection, standardization and conformity assessment.

The delegation of Uzbekistan presented at the forum information on the implementation of international standards at the enterprises of our country in order to improve the quality of products, services, security and access to international markets. Particular emphasis was placed on the development of rulemaking in the field of standardization and technical regulation.

According to the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan in Geneva, as part of their stay in Geneva, the Uzbek delegation met with the head of the UNECE Transport Regulation and Innovation Department, Walter Nisler, and the Commission’s Regional Transport Advisor, Nenad Nikolic.

The negotiations discussed the accession of Uzbekistan to the Agreement on the adoption of agreed UN technical regulations for wheeled vehicles, equipment and parts of 1958, the development of cooperation between the UNECE Secretariat and the Uzstandart Agency on the implementation of technical assistance projects in the field of harmonization of transport standards, protection environment, standardization and conformity assessment.

The UNECE expressed readiness to assist the Uzbek side in improving national legislation in the field of standardization and technical regulation, organizing joint events dedicated to improving the knowledge and skills of local specialists and improving the activities of laboratories.
