Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov has met with the Ambassador of Turkey to Uzbekistan Olgan Bekar.
According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the head of Uzbekistan delegation congratulated Olgan Bekar on his appointment to a responsible position and wished him success in his future professional activities.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as further measures to deepen the multifaceted partnership between the two countries.
The main attention was paid to the development of investment cooperation. It was emphasized that since 2019, the volume of Turkish investments in the economy of Uzbekistan amounted to about $950 million, and the number of enterprises with the participation of Turkish capital operating in the country – 1576.
The technical cooperation projects implemented in Uzbekistan jointly with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency were considered.
Positive tendencies were noted in increasing the trade turnover between the two countries. In the first two months this year, the trade turnover increased by 27.6 percent. The parties identified further steps to strengthen trade cooperation and bring the trade turnover to $5 billion soon.
The parties also discussed issues of working out an agreement on preferential trade, the completion of which will allow to accelerate the increase in the trade turnover.
Prospects for enhancing collaboration in the implementation of Turkey’s experience for improving the investment climate, development of regions and increasing the efficiency of management of free economic zones were considered. Besides, the parties considered the possibility of attracting leading Turkish construction, transport and environmental protection experts to work in Uzbekistan.
