Delivery Courier Impersonators Arrested for US$50k Theft in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Three citizens have been detained in Tashkent on suspicion of stealing US$50,000 from a company safe, according to the press service of the capital's Main City Internal Affairs Department.
The incident took place in the Yunusabad district. During the investigation, law enforcement officers identified the suspects: a 38-year-old organizer of the crime, a 26-year-old individual, and a driver employed by the enterprise. According to the investigation, the company employee provided the younger man with a bag and the uniform of a delivery service courier.
Under the cover of night, the suspect entered the office disguised as a courier and stole US$50,000 from the safe. It was revealed that the company driver received $4,000 for providing the tip-off. A criminal case has been initiated regarding this fact under Article 169 of the Criminal Code (Theft).
Investigative actions are currently ongoing.
In a separate report from Ferghana, another crime was noted where a group of masked men robbed a gas station, intimidating the cashier and stealing a safe containing money.
