Delegation of Uzbekistan holds talks with Afghan leadership
The Uzbek delegation held talks with Afghan officials. In particular, the delegation of Uzbekistan held negotiations with the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Government Abdullah Abdullah, the Minister of Finance Eclil Hakimi and other officials and members of the Afghan government.
The delegation of Uzbekistan held meetings with representatives of the leadership of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank and the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investments.
At the talks in Kabul, practical aspects of implementation of the agreements reached during the Uzbek-Afghan high-level dialogue in Tashkent in December 2017 were discussed, and inter-ministerial consultations were held on external financing of the Mazar-i-Sharif - Herat railway line project from the side of financial institutions.
The Uzbek delegation also took part in the work of expanded Council on Economic Affairs of the Government of Afghanistan, headed by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani.
During the speeches the importance of this railway project was stressed not only for activation of bilateral trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, but also for the entire region as a whole.
