Customs officers detain 24.4 kg of gold products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Customs officers of Uzbekistan revealed 78 cases of illegal movement of gold and jewelry products in the past period of 2014.

They seized 24.4 kg of gold and jewelry products for 1.122 billion soums, according to the Uzbek State Customs Committee said.

Citizen of Ferghana region E. Maripov was stopped in Tashkent airport when he was returning from Istanbul. He had with him 1.4 kg of silver products, which were hidden in vacuum cleaner.

Another citizen of Ferghana region D. Sidikjanova, who was heading from Istanbul to Tashkent, did not declared 159 grams of gold and silver products for over 2.5 million soums.

Citizen of Namangan M. Shamsidinova was detained with 210 grams of gold products for 10 million soums once she returned from Turkey to Uzbekistan.

Citizen of Samarkand region F. Turayeva, flying from Istanbul to Tashkent, was detained with 237 grams of jewelry for about 16 million soums. She did not declare the products.

Customs investigations are underway on all these cases.
