Council of Senate Approves Convening of 13th Plenary Session

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Council of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a regular meeting, at the conclusion of which it adopted a resolution to convene the 13th plenary session of the Senate on 5 February 2026.

During the meeting, the Council thoroughly reviewed the agenda of the upcoming plenary session, which will cover a wide range of issues concerning the country’s socio-economic development, further improvement of existing legislation, and protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms.

Specifically, the plenary session is expected to outline priority tasks arising from the Address of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan, as well as to summarize the Senate’s activities in 2025.

Senators plan to consider several laws aimed at ensuring food security, promoting a healthy lifestyle, developing sports, and further improving the system of personal data protection.

Additionally, the agenda includes legislative amendments to introduce Islamic banking mechanisms in Uzbekistan, define the legal status of environmentally clean areas, and refine regulations concerning protected natural territories.

The plenary session will also review the ratification of the Extradition Treaty between Uzbekistan and Hungary, progress in implementing the Gender Equality Strategy through 2030, and measures to ensure employment for graduates of both public and private higher education institutions training personnel for the social sector.

Furthermore, senators will examine the results of parliamentary inquiries submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers on regional infrastructure development, regulation of construction works, cultivation and processing of medicinal plants, and improvement of the alimony collection and payment system.

The session will also address issues related to amendments in the composition of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court.
