Competition Committee Fines 31 Firms for Inflated Propane Prices
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Committee of Uzbekistan has found 31 propane supplier companies guilty of inflating prices and imposed financial sanctions, according to the agency’s press service.
A special commission of the regulatory body investigated unjustified increases in the starting prices of liquefied gas at exchange trades from November 2025 to January 2026. Suppliers were also accused of deliberately restricting the volume of fuel offered for sale.
As a result of the Committee’s prompt measures, including the introduction of a price ceiling, the cost of a ton of propane decreased by 21%. Following control activities, 31 companies were deemed violators of competition law. Among them, 12 firms engaged in coordinated anti-competitive actions during exchange trading.
The fine for all companies amounted to their turnover at the time of the violation — 28.9 billion soums. Unjustified profits totaling 34.1 billion soums are to be transferred to the state budget.
The Committee ordered the companies to eliminate identified violations and prevent recurrence. Parties dissatisfied with the decision may appeal to the Committee’s appellate council or through the judicial system.
Companies found in violation include Asatillo Bobo Gaz Invest, Farg‘ona Gaz To‘ldirish Stansiyasi, Friday-Exstra, Gazone, GTL Gaz, Interneft, Maroqand-Energy Gaz Oil, Nasaf Taminot Gaz Press, Oilchem, Shirin Gaz Servis, Unit Group Sirdarya, Critical Merchant, and others.
