Citizens, trying to sell 17 kg of mercury for US$17,000, detained

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During an operational event, citizens trying to sell dangerous substance mercury were detained by employees of the Anti-Smuggling and Customs Offenses Department of the State Customs Committee of Chilanzar and Sergeli districts of Tashkent.

In particular, two citizens were detained in Chilanzar distict when they were trying to sell 12 kilograms of mercury. Citizens were detained while they were receiving an advance payment in the amount of US$7,000 out of the agreed US$12,000.

Another citizen was detained on the territory of Sergeli district, while trying to sell 5 kilograms of mercury for US5,000.

Currently, according to the revealed facts of violations, customs inspections are being conducted.
